Why it worked: Our campaign to sponsor a child created a sense of ownership and pride in the donations we received. By creating sponsorship opportunities rather than merely asking for overhead expenses, donors became invested and engaged in the idea of changing the life of a child.
One thing another nonprofit could repeat: When donors relate their funds to a specific impact rather than a broad overarching goal, they become more engaged. Give donors a goal, i.e. 100 donors to sponsor $30/month, etc.
