Why we love it
Mountain Avenue Committed to Kids (M.A.C.K.) is a volunteer-run foundation that supports the students, teachers, and programs of Mountain Avenue Elementary School in La Crescenta, California.
Our Annual Fund is our largest fundraiser of the year and helps fund classroom supplies, technology, educational initiatives, enrichment programs, and other resources that directly benefit students.
We designed our Zeffy donation form with one goal in mind: making it as easy as possible for busy families to support their school. Through the form, we raised $29,485 from 143 donations and reached 74% of our total fundraising goal. When combined with offline cash donations, the campaign ultimately exceeded its overall fundraising target of $40,000.
What's one thing we'd repeat?
Reduce friction wherever possible.
School families are busy. They want to support their children's education, but they don't want a complicated donation process.
We intentionally encouraged families to give through Zeffy because it created a simple, centralized experience. Parents could donate in minutes, receive an immediate tax receipt, choose between one-time or recurring gifts, and clearly understand how their contribution would support students.
The platform also helped our volunteer board by simplifying reporting and reconciliation, allowing us to spend less time on administration and more time supporting our school community.
Most importantly, we focused our messaging on student impact rather than organizational needs. Families could immediately see how their donation would support classroom resources, technology, enrichment opportunities, and educational programs.
Our biggest takeaway: when you make giving easy and clearly connect donations to student outcomes, families respond.
Go Bears!
