Community Baby Shower for Disadvantaged Areas

Why It Worked
Zeffy provided a trusted and transparent platform that reassured donors their contributions were being directed to a legitimate 501(c)(3) organization and used in accordance with charitable giving guidelines.
Our Community Baby Shower initiative receives support from a diverse network of churches, women's ministries, families, local law enforcement, healthcare professionals, and community members. Through Zeffy, we are able to maintain ongoing communication with donors, sharing updates, outcomes, and stories of impact.
Beyond providing essential items for mothers and babies, our showers serve as educational opportunities. We intentionally address important topics such as postpartum wellness, maternal self-advocacy, and navigating healthcare systems. Research continues to show that many Black and Brown mothers face stigma surrounding postpartum challenges and often experience disparities in maternal healthcare. To help address these concerns, we invite clinicians, advocates, and community leaders to educate, empower, and encourage families through meaningful conversations and resources.
What I Would Repeat
One of the most impactful elements of our event is the creation of a “Mommy Help Board,” which provides mothers with a visual display of the individuals, organizations, and community partners who contributed to making the shower possible. This tangible representation of support reminds families that they are not alone.
Most importantly, we intentionally promote the message that Donations provide the “Community Vibes." From the moment guests enter the room, we want them to experience the kindness, generosity, and compassion of their community. Our goal is for every mother and family to leave knowing that the kindness of strangers is still real and that a caring community stands behind them.
