Why it worked: We hosted Comedy for Capital, a fundraising event featuring 4 comedians, 90+ attendees, women-owned wine, and music from Alabama women artists — and raised 102% of our $20,000 goal in a single night. Zeffy's zero-fee platform meant every dollar donors gave went directly to the mission, which made it easier to ask boldly and for our community to give generously.
One thing another nonprofit could repeat: Build your event incorporating the community you serve - our comedians, wine, and music were all women-owned or women-led!
We felt good promoting local women businesses in all these industries by using their services and it made our fundraising feel a bit more natural!
