Why it worked: We aren’t asking people to just donate we are asking them to belong. The "Be One of 1,000" framing gives donors a specific seat in a specific story, and that identity-based ask drove $22,039 across 1,404 donations with an average gift well above our $10 floor. We’ve made it less about giving more, and more about more of us giving.
One thing another nonprofit could repeat: Name the cohort, not just the cause. Instead of "support our programs," give donors a countable place in the mission, a number, a threshold, a community they're joining. It changes the psychology of the ask entirely.
