Meaningful Donor Relationships

Why it worked
Ektrepho is a nonprofit that provides worship services to seniors in assisted living facilities. We never charge the homes or solicit donations from our seniors. We rely on generous donors to support our mission. In our communications, we strive to share impact stories, showing how this ministry is benefiting our senior communities. Also, we send additional, personal thank you emails or texts after every single donation. We want our supporters to know how much we value their financial contribution. The first two years of our work have been a blessing and I am excited to see how we can continue to grow!
Something to repeat
In all the nonprofit articles I have read, I see a consistent theme: build community. With your donors (and even your volunteers and email supporters), build genuine relationships and make connections. Not every conversation should be asking for money or asking them to give their time. Tell them thank you and learn about their life. Let them know that you care for them. Try to avoid being transactional. Building a relational foundation fosters further trust and support in you and your mission.
