How We Shifted From "Keeping the Lights On" to Investing in Youth Workforce Development
https://radnessensues.org/give/
Why it worked:
We realized people don't want to donate to a building. They want to invest in people.
Instead of leading with our operational needs, we shifted our messaging toward Youth Workforce Development. Every donation helps provide real-world opportunities for young people through creative entrepreneurship, mentorship, community engagement, and paid internship experiences.
Our supporters aren't simply helping a nonprofit survive; they're helping build the next generation of artists, makers, entrepreneurs, and community leaders. When donors understand the impact their gift has on someone's future, giving becomes an investment rather than a transaction.
One thing another nonprofit could repeat:
Lead with the transformation you're creating, not the expenses you're paying.
Don't ask people to keep your doors open. Invite them to open doors for someone else. We found that when donors can picture a young person gaining confidence, job skills, and opportunities because of their gift, they become emotionally invested in the mission rather than simply responding to a fundraising appeal.
At Radness Ensues, we believe creativity isn't just art; it's workforce development.
