How We Use Peer-to-Peer Fundraising on Zeffy
At the Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support Centre, we use Zeffy for all of our fundraising from event ticketing, donations, and peer-to-peer fundraising. Our most successful initiatives though have come from peer-to-peer fundraising.
Peer-to-peer fundraising has been one of our biggest tools for growing community engagement and donations and Zeffy makes it easy! Here’s a look at how we use it in two different ways.
Our Annual Legacy Run/Walk Event
Our flagship event combines event registration with peer-to-peer fundraising. Once participants register, they are prompted to create or join a campaign. They can create a solo campaign or start a team and start fundraising with their own networks. We equip them with ready-to-use blurbs about our mission and some graphics so they’re not starting from scratch, but after that they run with it.
The friendly competition helps too. We award prizes and give shoutouts a the event for top fundraisers, which keeps energy high in the weeks leading up to the day. Last year, our Legacy Run/Walk raised over $121,000 through peer-to-peer campaigns along.
Light the Path: Community Fundraising Program
Not everything has to be tied to an event. Our Light the Path program is built entirely around giving people the tools to fundraise on their own terms, whether it’s a birthday fundraiser, a memorial campaign, or a community-driven initiative.
One of our favourite examples: A local tattoo artist ran a month-long campaign where she donated a portion of her sales to us and talked to clients during their sessions about our mission. She set up her own peer-to-peer campaign on Zeffy and used it as a hub to direct donations. It was grassroots, personal, and very effective.
This kind of campaign works because it meets supporters where they already are, in their own communities.
A Few Things That Make It Work
Give them a starting point. Pre-written blurbs, branded graphics, idea banks, tutorials, etc are all ways to reduce friction and get them started while ensuring they feel supported in the process. It’s a one time investment to create the materials, that keeps giving to your supporters.
Make it personal. The best campaigns are the ones where the fundraiser has a real connection to your mission.
Keep momentum going. Check in with fundraisers, celebrate milestones publicly, and remind them why it matters.
Happy to answer any questions about how we’ve structured these campaigns in Zeffy. Feel free to drop them below!
