Color Run Success!

The Mokena PTA is excited to host the 3rd Annual School's Out Color Run! There are a variety of ways for all ages to participate in this FUN family friendly event. The course is approximately 5K (3.2 miles) and has multiple loops, in addition to a Kids Dash and Sensory Dash. You can walk/run as much or little of the course as you would like (anywhere from 1-4 laps!). This race is not chip timed and everyone receives a medal.For the safety of all participants strollers are allowed, but will not be allowed to enter the wooded trail until the majority of participants have finished. Only service dogs are allowed. All proceeds raised from this event support the Mokena PTA's programming and activities for students, staff and teachers at all three district schools. The Mokena PTA is a 501c(3) non-profit that serves Illinois’ elementary District 159. We support students, families and staff members across an elementary school, intermediate school, and junior high school, and serve students from prek-4 to 8th grade.

We used Zeffy as our ticket sales platform for our 3rd Annual Color Run and sold 972 tickets, raising more than $16,000 for our organization.

Why It Worked? Our mobile-friendly sales site let people access and buy tickets from their phone/tablet (more than 82% of sales) while having clear ticket options available. We sell tickets for a Sensory Dash, Kids Dash, and 5K run/walk so that everyone can participate at some level. Our marketing materials and sales ticket sites were easy to share and buyers were able to help us promote by easily sharing they had gotten their tickets for the event.

How to Replicate? Keep it simple and engaging, but have everything in 1 place. Nobody wants to have to visit multiple sites to get information for an event—sell tickets, sign waivers, get custom questions answered all in 1 stop.
