Why it worked:

Making something unexpected is both memorable and impactful. As a new nonprofit creative reuse center in Asheville, NC that was raising funds toward our founding fund, we had yet to demonstrate our planned impact in the community. By hosting an event that was more of a community art project with live sewing, humor, and creativity for all ages on full display, we were able to make a big impact with our event.

One thing another nonprofit could repeat:

We appreciated our tiered ticketing system that didn't leave anyone out. We had a limited about of discount tickets, ticket prices for kids, a "standard" ticket price and a stretch ticket that came with a bonus for anyone that wanted to get involved. Using humor and fun naming, kept the tiered system even more accessible for our community.
