Why it worked (one or two sentences)
Latinos In Transit (LIT), a national nonprofit committed to empowering professionals in the transit industry to achieve leadership roles by advancing opportunities for workforce development, mentorship, networking, and education, raised an incredible $21,025 in our first-ever board-led raffle campaign, blowing past our goal and energizing our entire community. It worked because we turned fundraising into a spirited competition among our 15 board members, each with their own ticket button, and Zeffy's platform made it all run seamlessly; we added our branding with minimal effort, watched the excitement spread from conference hallways to family group chats, and celebrated an awesome turnout that lets us keep advancing our mission.
One thing another nonprofit could repeat (a tactic, feature, or insight)
Give every board member their own ticket button on Zeffy and let the friendly competition do the rest. When supporters can buy from a specific person, fundraising becomes personal, and board members get invested in promoting the campaign themselves, recording videos, making phone calls, and selling tickets face-to-face at conferences and networking events. It also widens your reach naturally, since each director taps into their own network of members, colleagues, family, and friends. We also recommend posting weekly leaderboard updates on social media. It keeps the momentum growing and the excitement alive throughout the campaign.
