GHHS Band Boosters Exceeded Goal Using Zeffy to Maximize Matching Grant

Why It Worked: We are a small charitable organization of parents trying to fund the needs of our high school band program, including specialized instruction, instruments, music scholarships, student recognition, event support, social activities, and myriad additional needs of 112 young musicians. We only started using Zeffy last fall, as an easier way for students to accept payments during our annual wreath fundraiser. We also used it as an auction preview site, vastly improving our in-person auction sales and client experience. An opportunity arose in March to secure up to $8,000 in matching grant funds for new fundraising, but we needed to launch an entirely new fundraiser with little time before the end of the school year to reach this new goal and secure vital funds for our bands and community. We launched a floral fundraiser, selling hanging flower baskets and color bowls, and used Zeffy almost exclusively, because it allowed us to be nimble with advertising, provided clients a professional site through which to order, helped us collect critical information for distribution, and most importantly, gave proof of our income for the grant administrators in ways that cash collections from door-to-door sales could not. Given that this was also during our peak concert season, it also spared our band students time, since they could share the Zeffy link with potential buyers, and we could market more broadly to our community using social media. As of yesterday, we exceeded our goal of $8,000, and we could not have done this without Zeffy!

The one thing we would repeat: Basically, all of it, but a key element was being able to use Zeffy to craft quality sales and donation solicitation emails. These were used to reach our band families and supporters, and include enticing product photos and easy buttons to click to reach our campaign and goodies like concert footage. Combined with the user-friendly Zeffy platform, the streamlined emails allowed even the most digitally-challenged grandparents to have a great experience.
