Why it worked? We wanted people who care about improving the health of people who go through placenta accreta spectrum. We wanted to create a way for everyone to feel like they were part of a big team contributing to this goal. So we launched our annual membership so everyone can contribute and help us run our nonprofit medical research organization and deliver what they want (e.g., a multicenter research database, hosting in-person/virtual meetings, and awarding grants to budding researchers throughout the Americas).

Another nonprofit can repeat? Definitely be mission-driven and make it known so that those who believe in the same thing will follow through and support your cause. We keep up with updating everyone yearly on our progress and the transparency really painted the picture of where their membership fees were going.
