Fundraising Success
We are thrilled with the results, so far! Since January, we've saved over $300 in "fees" and generated $2,400 in donations through Zeffy. For a small museum, this is incredible. Relatively easy to use for a novice like me and convenient for our donors.
Why it worked:
We anchored every ask to a single, irresistible number — $250 — tying our donation amount directly to America's 250th anniversary. That alignment gave donors an immediate, intuitive reason to give at that level: it wasn't an arbitrary threshold, it was a part of the celebration. Pairing the gift ask with a membership recruitment goal (250 new members) and a tangible 250th Anniversary keepsake created two clear entry points for supporters at different stages of engagement, and the Independence Day deadline gave the campaign a natural sense of urgency without feeling artificial.
One thing another nonprofit could repeat:
Find the number in your story and make it the ask. If your organization is celebrating a milestone, marking an anniversary, or connected to a meaningful civic moment, build your campaign around that number — it does the storytelling for you and makes the giving feel like participation rather than donation. In our case, $250 for the 250th was instantly understood, easy to share, and memorable enough that donors mentioned it back to us in their own words.
